Engagement or wedding rings began in ancient time as the circle was used to symbolize a never ending cycle and never ending love.

Betrothal rings were used during Roman times. Roman men gave engagement rings that included a small key. Romantics believe that the carved key was a symbolic key to protect never ending love.

Love padlocks symbolise the same traditions of never ending love.

Love locks are a symbol of love and commitment.
Creating my Love Padlocks project in Albert Dock as a part of Intervention art project I have been inspired by an ancient custom, which is believed to have originated in China – where lovers lock a padlock on a chain or gate and then throw away the key, symbolically locking their love forever.
Love is misterious and Sacred.

Love padlocks are an expression of hope and humanity, connecting people around the world with the one thing that unites us all - love.  If you are looking for a unique and creative way to express your love and commitment, you now have the chance to play a role in this ancient tradition at Albert Dock, Liverpool.
